Visit Petrodvorets, also known as the Peterhof Palace, to see one of the most famous Russian palaces, with its luxurious rooms and garden fountains. St. Petersburg, built on the Neva River delta, is an amazing complex of islands and connecting bridges. During the winter months the river freezes over, but in the summer when it is once again navigable, a cruise is a splendid way to gain a different perspective of the city. During your cruise, enjoy live performances of well-known Russian folk songs and savor caviar and champagne or vodka.

St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral & Fortress (Anytime excursion)

Planned by the Swiss architect, Domenico Trezzini, the Cathedral was consecrated in 1733. The magnificent complex is recognizable from afar by the Cathedral's needle-thin spire and an angel holding a cross on the summit. It is the burial site for most of the pre-revolutionary Russian leaders including Peter the Great and the last Russian tsar, Nicholas II, and his family. The clock and chimes of the Cathedral rang until the 1917 revolution, then began again in 1952.
