Victoria Falls

Bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls are the largest falls in the world. A breathtaking sight full of raw power and energy, the falls are roughly twice the height of Niagara Falls and span over a mile wide. In the 1800s, the local tribe in the area called the falls "Mosi-oa-Tunya"—the Smoke that Thunders. Today, they are among the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and are celebrated as the "greatest known curtain of falling water." With 546 million cubic meters of water per minute plunging over the edge, the thunderous spray can be seen from miles away. Other nearby attractions include a craft market for intricate animal carvings in wood and stone.
