Today, prepare for the experience of a lifetime when you board a catamaran and CRUISE to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Explore this underwater world that is a dazzling kaleidoscope of color and brilliance. Choose to SNORKEL, take a semi-submersible WATERCRAFT TOUR, or attend a presentation by a marine biologist. Return to Port Douglas, where the evening is at leisure.

A full day at leisure. You may wish to take a trip into the Daintree Forest, the world’s oldest living rainforest, and to beautiful Cape Tribulation. Other activities include hiking, relaxing by your resort’s pool, or window shopping at the unique boutiques and art galleries in downtown Port Douglas, where you are sure to find a favorite souvenir.

Port Douglas–Cairns–Darwin

Spend some time at leisure this morning. Perhaps select an optional excursion to visit a zoo to see crocodiles, kangaroos, and koalas, or the quiet mountain village of Kuranda via the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Later, transfer to Cairns and fly to Darwin at the top end of Australia.

Darwin. Excursion to Kakadu National Park

This morning, depart Darwin for a full-day excursion to KAKADU NATIONAL PARK. Upon arrival, take a GUIDED WALK around Nourlangie Rock to view ancient Aboriginal rock art. Then, take a GUIDED CRUISE on Kakadu’s famous wetlands for a chance to see crocodiles in the wild. You will also stop at the WARRADJAN ABORIGINAL CULTURAL CENTRE to learn more about the cultural significance of the park. Afterward, return to Darwin.

Stokes Hill Wharf and Darwin Waterfront Precinct

This precinct has many historical and modern attractions and offers a variety of eating options, ranging from alfresco eateries to top-class seafood restaurants. The history of the Wharf dates back to the early 1800s with the arrival of European settlers. On February 19 1942, the Japanese bombed Darwin, with the Wharf bearing the full force of the invasion. Today, you can catch a cruise to explore the harbor, relax and enjoy the seasonal live entertainment, drop a line from the fishing platforms, take a fishing tour or swim in the wave lagoon or recreational lagoon.

Australian Aviation Heritage Centre

Open daily, this center features an impressive collection of aviation history from the aviation pioneers and record breakers to the Territory's frontier role in WWII. There is a massive B52 Bomber, on permanent loan from the US Air Force, a Sabre jet, a Spitfire replica and a Huey Cobra helicopter. The Bombing of Darwin exhibition is a must-see!

USS Peary Memorial

Bombed and sunk on February 19 1942, the USS Peary still lies on the floor of Darwin Harbor. Located on the cliffs of the Darwin Esplanade, a salvaged gun from USS Peary points seaward to the location where the Peary was found by divers searching Darwin Harbor after the war and stands as a tribute to the 91 sailors who went down with her on that fateful day. Also honored here is Lt. Robert Buel, a US Air force pilot who lost his life on February 15, 1942 in a heroic attack on Japanese aircraft on a bombing raid over Darwin city.
