13 Day Package from Sydney to Melbourne

Oz. When Dorothy was there, she encountered munchkins, flying monkeys, witches, and a yellow brick road. On your vacation to Oz, as Australia is commonly nicknamed, you'll encounter exciting cities, friendly people, and amazing natural scenery. And Monograms makes it easy for you to go. On this 13-day vacation, we've arranged your hotel reservations, sightseeing, daily breakfast, and private transfers from/to your hotels to/from the airports for your intra-vacation flights. We've also arranged for you to have a Local Host®—someone who is there for you throughout your stay to answer questions, offer suggestions, and ensure your vacation runs smoothly—in Sydney, Cairns, and Melbourne.

Your vacation begins when you arrive in Sydney, as we can seamlessly get you from baggage claim to your selected hotel. There, your Local Host will provide a warm welcome greeting and a set of materials to help you get settled and personalize your vacation. In fact, your Local Host will provide you with information. We've also arranged for you to enjoy a guided sightseeing tour with a local expert in each city. In Sydney, hear what it's like to live in this friendly city as you visit famous Bondi Beach and see the must-see attractions, such as the Opera House. And don't worry; we’ve scouted out the best place to take photos of Sydney’s Harbour Bridge. In Melbourne, we’ll show you Queen Victoria Market, the Royal Botanic Gardens, and much more. A free day in each city—Sydney, Cairns, and Melbourne—lets you explore on your own. Your Local Host will have plenty of suggestions, such as a trip to the Blue Mountains outside of Sydney or to the quiet mountain village of Kuranda near Cairns. Or you may just want to wander around shopping for local specialties.

In addition to the great cities, we've also arranged for you to visit some of Australia's most amazing natural sights. We’ll take you on a cruise to Australia's Great Barrier Reef. You'll be able to snorkel, take a semi-submersible watercraft tour, or attend a presentation by a marine biologist. Similarly, we've arranged for you to visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre with its amazing collection of Aboriginal arts. You'll also enjoy drinks and canapés, as you witness the sunset at Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). From the luxuriant water of the Great Barrier Reef to the awe-inspiring, arid monolith of Uluru (Ayers Rock), these sights are nothing short of spectacular!

Did we mention we've also included sightseeing of Alice Springs? We’ll show you what life is like in this remote region and show you the must-see attractions, including the Royal Flying Doctor Service. With the sightseeing we've included and the transportation we've arranged, and the time you save by trying to arrange this all yourself, you’ve got yourself a vacation of a lifetime!

Meet one of your Local Hosts in Sydney, AustraliaMonograms provides travelers access to a Local Host®, so you will have someone on hand to answer those vacation questions pertaining to Sydney. No waiting in line at the concierge desk or trying to ask your waitress at breakfast directions to the shopping district. Simply ask your Local Host® about Sydney and you'll be on your way in no time. Plus, your Local Host® will share local Sydney, Australia insights and share suggestions for getting off the beaten path, leaving you more time to create lasting vacation memories that are yours alone.

Meet a Local Host® in Sydney

Hi, I'm Vic. With 25 years as a Tour Director, I love presenting the beauty of Australia to visitors from all over the world. I enjoy helping Monograms guests create long-lasting memories. One of my favorite recommendations is a visit to the Rocks to learn about Sydney's early history. I love sharing my local knowledge, from its small (and interesting) beginings to the bustling city it has grown into.

Manly Beach

Catch the ferry from Circular Quay to this iconic Sydney beach. Stroll through the corso while enjoying an ice-cream or treat yourself to a beer at the Hotel Steyne overlooking the ocean. You may wish to walk along the beachfront to Little Manly Beach.

Walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Enjoy spectacular views of Sydney Harbour and the city surrounds as you take an easy stroll across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and back.

Queen Victoria Building and Strand Arcade

These shopping arcades are both architectural beauties in their own right. Even if you aren’t interested in shopping, they are worth a glimpse.

Clifftop Coastal Walk

This walk hugs the coastline from Bondi to Coogee and is 6 kms in length. Walk all or part of it for amazing views and perhaps stop for a swim at one of the beaches along the way.

Altmann & Cherny Opal Store

Located on Pitt St. at Circular Quay, this family-owned and operated business offers an impressive range of opal jewelry.

Paddy’s Market

If you want to bring home inexpensive, kitschy souvenirs, this Chinatown market is the place. Kangaroo oven mitts and Opera House shot glasses abound.
Note: Paddy's Market is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Museum of Contemporary Art

Stroll the MCA and experience the work of today’s artists from across Australia and around the world on your own or take part in one of the free daily guided tours. Getting hungry? Stop at the MCA Cafe on Level 4 for spectacular harbor views, site-specific art and a fresh daily menu. On Wednesdays, make sure to check out their contemporary art after dark when the galleries, cafe, and store are all open until 9 pm.

Sydney Opera Bar

Found at the water’s edge of the Sydney Harbour and base of the famous Sydney Opera House, the Opera Bar promises an experience to remember. Toast to unforgettable views, new friends and new experiences in the afternoon sun.

Explore The Rocks

Get a sense of Sydney's past exploring The Rocks' cobbled laneways, cozy cafés and oldest pubs in the country. Major highlights within this area are: Sydney Observatory, Argyle Gallery, Cadman's Cottage, Sydney Theatre Company, Lord Nelson Brewery, and The Rocks Markets where Sydneysiders flock to on Fridays and over the weekend.

Island hopping on Sydney Harbour

Sydney Harbour Islands Fort Denison, Shark, Clark, Rodd, Goat, and Cockatoo are among some of Sydney's most popular natural attractions. Catch one of the regular ferry services from Circular Quay during summer and take in the sparkling scenery.

Thai Town

Thai Town, located in Haymarket on Campbell Street bordering Chinatown, is a neighborhood in Sydney with a Thai theme. While not as elaborate as Sydney's Chinatown, it has quickly become to best place to go in Sydney for great Thai Restaurants as well as Thai grocery stores.

Cairns

Cairns, Australia Must See SightsMonograms provides travelers access to a Local Host®, so you will have someone on hand to answer those vacation questions pertaining to Cairns, Australia. Meet a Local Host® in Cairns

Hi, I'm Sonia. Having traveled all over the world, I enjoy sharing my knowledge of what guests can experience in Australia and in Cairns. I love the laid-back lifestyle and the international cuisine found in Cairns. I suggest enjoying some fresh local seafood, a glass of wine, and watching the sunset.

Cairns Botanic Gardens

The lush tropical flora of Cairns can’t be beat and a trip to the Cairns Botanic Gardens invites you to explore the beauty of its tropical flowers, trees, and ferns. Home to approximately 4,000 species of plants, you’ll want more than a day to capture it all, which can be easy to do, since admission is free. Buses run to the Botanic gardens from the Cairns city center, departing roughly every 25 minutes.

Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours

Many rainforest animals are nocturnal and difficult to spot during the day. If you’re a little nocturnal yourself, consider one of these tours designed to maximize wildlife encounters. They start at 3:00 pm and end around 11:00 pm.

Fishing Cairns

Cairns is the black marlin capital of the world. Whether you want to reel in one of these giant fish or try your skill against a barracuda or a tiger shark, this outfit can get you to the secret spots.

They are open every night from 5 pm and offer casual dining in a well-serviced food court.

Your free time is limited but in the harsh climate of the Outback, cooling off in the pool is a good way to spend the afternoon! The Bunya bar at the Desert Gardens Hotel has just the answer to finish off a relaxing afternoon.

Meet a Local Host® in Melbourne

Hello, I’m Lindsay. I was born and raised in Melbourne and have a deep appreciation of the city and its lifestyle. I entered the tourism industry over 25 years ago and still look forward to welcoming guests and showcasing my city, which has won the title of “World’s Most Livable City” eight times. Melbourne is also known as the sporting capital of Australia and is also well-known for its food and coffee culture. I look forward to meeting you and sharing even more helpful hints about my city.

The Block Arcade

Step back in time as you stroll the beautiful shops of the Block Arcade. Perhaps enjoy afternoon tea at the Hopetoun Tea Rooms, where the Victorian Ladies’ Work Association ran a small tea room from 1893-1907.

Old Melbourne Gaol

More than 100 hangings took place at this former prison, including that of Australia’s equivalent to Jesse James—hero and bandit Ned Kelly. The collection of artifacts and death masks are most interesting. For a truly chilling experience, take one of the night tours.

Cook’s Cottage

Built in 1755 by Captain Cook’s parents in Yorkshire, England, this cottage was moved in crates and barrels to Melbourne in 1934. The cottage provides a glimpse into Captain Cook’s world voyages as well as insight into 18th- century English family life.

Queen Victoria Market

Melbourne is Australia’s melting pot, and this open-air market offers a true taste of the ethnic mix. Among hundreds of stalls, you’ll find everything from fresh produce and wine to handicrafts and bargain clothes. Closed Mondays & Wednesdays.

Melbourne Cricket Ground

Witness a local icon originally built in 1853. If you’re unable to see a cricket match or Australia Rules Football, visit the National Sports Museum located at the ground. Or perhaps venture to nearby Melbourne Park, home of the Australian Open Grand Slam tennis tournament.

Brunswick Street, Fitzroy

Find art, fashion and food on Melbourne's Soho strip. Boredom isn't an option on Brunswick Street, the vibrant Melbourne strip where people from all walks of life go to shop, eat, drink, meet and dance. And it’s a popular spot for filming several TV shows.
