Monograms makes it easy for you to venture through Vietnam, because we have taken care of your hotel accommodations, transportation, private guided sightseeing, and daily breakfast. You’ll also have access to a Local Host®, who can provide suggestions about what to see and do during your stay.

Your vacation in Vietnam begins when you arrive in Hanoi. Monograms can pick you up at the airport and get you to your hotel effortlessly. Your Local Host will greet you and help familiarize you with the culture and traditions of the city. The next morning, indulge in an included breakfast before heading off on a private guided tour of the city, where you’ll wander the ancient streets of the Old Quarter, visit the Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, Presidential Palace, and Hanoi’s first university, the Temple of Literature.

The next day, take a private transfer through the countryside to Ha Long Bay, a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site that is dotted with more than 3,000 limestone islands. Upon your arrival, you will board an overnight cruise that will take you to explore the beaches, caves, and floating villages scattered throughout the bay. You may also choose to enjoy a traditional Vietnamese cooking demonstration while on board. You will disembark the following day to catch a quick flight from Hanoi to Danang, near Hoi An.

You’ll have two days to explore Hoi An. The first day, enjoy a private guided tour of the Central Market, where you can buy local goods, from fresh fish and spices to silk; the Hoi An Museum; and a Chinese assembly hall. On your second day, you’ll take a cruise on the Thu Bon River and take a fishing lesson from local fisherman. You will also meet a local farmer to learn about his daily life. On both days, enjoy the afternoon at your leisure to explore further or relax at the beach!

Then, you’ll visit the Cham Museum before driving north over Hai Van Pass, considered one of the most scenic spots in Vietnam. You will spend the duration of your day in Hue, where you will visit the Imperial Citadel and the Thien Mu Pagoda. You’ll also get to visit the Tombs of the Nguyen Emperors, and the Royal Tomb of Tu Duc.

Finally, you will spend two days in Ho Chi Minh City. Take a private guided walking tour along Dong Khoi Street, where you will see some of the city’s historic landmarks, including Ho Chi Minh Square and the Municipal Theatre. Visit the moving War Remnants Museum and the city’s oldest and largest market, Ben Thanh Market. On your second day, you will visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, more than 120 miles of underground tunnels, formerly used as a hideout for the Viet Cong. There’s plenty of free time in the afternoons to do as you please. You may like to shop for souvenirs or sample pho (noodle soup) or che (local dessert) at one of the many open-air restaurants. Your Local Host can make suggestions and help you make the most of your stay.

Make your vacation to Vietnam one to enjoy, not stress about! We handle the hotels, transportation, private guided sightseeing, and activities for you, so that your only worry is which local specialty to try next!

Meet a Local Host®

My name is Hiep, and I get great joy out of sharing my knowledge about Vietnam with people from around the world. From fascinating stories and friendly people to the unique culture and hidden charms, visitors are often pleasantly surprised by what this great country has to offer. Most people say they choose their career, but for me, being a Tour Director chose me - and I have loved every moment of it from day one!

Old Quarter

Hanoi’s lively Old Quarter is famous for its small artisans and merchants including many silk shops. At the beginning of the 20th century, each of the 36 streets that today make up the Old Quarter, had merchants and households that specialized in a particular trade such as silk, cotton, leather, silver etc. These days the street names reflect these specializations although few of them remain exclusively in their original commerce. Local cuisine specialties as well as several clubs and bars can be found here as well as a night market open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening with a variety of clothing, souvenirs and food.

Hoan Kiem Lake

Meaning Lake of the Returned Sword or Lake of the Restored Sword, Hoan Kiem Lake in the historical center of the city, is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere or to take a leisurely stroll. It is one of Hanoi’s major scenic spots and a focal point of public life. There are some good photo opportunities around the shores of the lake.

Water Puppets

Don’t miss a fascinating performance of Hanoi’s renowned Water Puppets, a traditional art form dating back to the 11th century.

I'm Tuyen and after graduating tourism university in 1997, I started work as a full time tour guide. I'm excited to show our beautiful country to more international friends and am looking forward to serving you and making your stay in Vietnam unforgettable.

Rooftop Garden bar at the Rex Hotel

Home to the infamous “Five O’clock follies” and a favorite hangout for American officers during the Vietnam War, this rooftop bar still evokes memories of a time long past. The furnishings are a bit kitschy, but that is part of the charm. Stop for a drink or dinner and enjoy the great city views.

Local market in Cholon

Cholon is the Chinatown of Ho Chi Minh City and gets its name from Cho Lon, which means “big market” in Chinese. This intriguing area is teaming with restaurants, temples, shops, and buzzing markets. The two primary markets are Binh Tay and Ben Thanh. These massive markets offer similar products and are a great place to experience the local culture, browse the many stalls, and sample great authentic local cuisine.

Cyclo ride at night

This city comes alive at night, and a “cyclo” ride is the perfect way to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the city. Sitting in the front of this 3-wheeled bicycle gives you a great view as you slowly meander through the streets. Although a rare occurrence, some “cyclo” riders may try to charge you too much or take you to places you don’t want to go, so make sure to negotiate the price and clearly state your destination before the ride begins.

Dong Khoi Street

Running from the Notre Dame Cathedral to the waterfront, this shopping area is well known for the quality of its goods. Here you can buy custom made silk garments that rival those of Hong Kong for a reasonable price. The workmanship is extraordinary. Among other items for sale are jewelry, handbags, tablecloths, ceramics, and scarves. If shopping isn’t your thing, this is still a great place to take a stroll to explore the city.

Saigon Saigon Bar

This popular rooftop bar, in the iconic Caravelle Hotel, offers sweeping views of Ho Chi Minh City. Stop by for a drink at dusk and enjoy the spectacular view as the sun sets and the city lights up. Live music is featured nightly. You don’t have to dress up, but no shorts please.

Ton That Thiep Street

Ton That Thien Street is a great place to shop for Vietnamese and propaganda posters. You can also find funky lacquer ware and costume jewelry shops.

Take in a Show

Enjoy acrobats, contemporary dancers, jugglers and martial arts experts, with musical accompaniment at a performing arts show. The A O Show (pronounced Ahhh! Ohhh!) has been performing to rapturous acclaim since 2013. Depending on the time of year the troupe may offer performances of My Village or The Mist, which are equally engaging. Each show takes the audience on a journey of Vietnamese life.
