NOTE:
Both Whale Sharks and Humpback whales are wild creatures. Everything will be done to maximize the likelihood you will swim with a whale, but we cannot guarantee it. Since the whales will continually move, swimming is required to do the interaction. You will need to be a confident swimmer and be able to snorkel and swim freestyle. The whales are found in the open ocean so you may be swimming in currents and swells. If you do not wish to get in the water, you may remain on the boat and watch these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

Meet a Local Host® in Port Douglas, Australia

Hi, I’m Tina. I am so lucky to live and work in Paradise, Port Douglas! I have experienced the Reef and Rainforest on many occasions, so I can definitely give you all the best locals tips and suggestions for things to do while here. One of my favorite local gems is a trip on the Lady Douglas, a 1.5 hour excursion on an old paddle steamer that cruises the local waterways. A crocodile is always spotted on the banks and you often see other birds and wildlife too.

Ironbar Restaurant

Locally owned and operated since 1994, The Ironbar Restaurant’s rustic Australiana theme and lively atmosphere make it a hit with locals and tourists alike. For a fun night out, check out their live and local music talents on stage each night.

Four Mile Beach

No visit to Port Douglas is complete without a walk along Four Mile Beach. Listen to the palm trees in the breeze as you walk along four miles of white sandy beach without a hint of civilization in sight. Choose to laze in the sun on the warm sand, swim in the calm waters of the Coral Sea, or gaze along the coastline for spectacular views of the ocean and rainforest.

Bally Hooley Steam Railway

Meet Speedy and Bundy, two 55 year old coal-fired steam locomotives - the very last ones used by the Mossman Sugar Mill before switching to diesel locomotives for hauling the sugar cane from the fields to the region's mill. Take a ride on these historic little steam trains on a track that has been in existence for over a century. Train operates daily 9:30 am to 3:30 pm including most public holidays.

Fine Dining by the Sea

The Reef Marina offers a diverse range of dining options. Overlooking the magnificent Coral Sea, this is the perfect place to unwind even further and take in the atmosphere of this stunning seaside town.

The Clink Theatre (Douglas Theatre Arts Group)

Filled with history and life, this beautiful auditorium, with perfect acoustics, and the best little bar in town, plays host to local and travelling artists alike and makes for a great night on the town.

Meet a Local Host® in Sydney

Hi, I'm Vic. With 25 years as a Tour Director, I love presenting the beauty of Australia to visitors from all over the world. I enjoy helping Monograms guests create long-lasting memories. One of my favorite recommendations is a visit to the Rocks to learn about Sydney's early history. I love sharing my local knowledge, from its small (and interesting) beginings to the bustling city it has grown into.

Manly Beach

Catch the ferry from Circular Quay to this iconic Sydney beach. Stroll through the corso while enjoying an ice-cream or treat yourself to a beer at the Hotel Steyne overlooking the ocean. You may wish to walk along the beachfront to Little Manly Beach.

Walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Enjoy spectacular views of Sydney Harbour and the city surrounds as you take an easy stroll across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and back.

Queen Victoria Building and Strand Arcade

These shopping arcades are both architectural beauties in their own right. Even if you aren’t interested in shopping, they are worth a glimpse.

Clifftop Coastal Walk

This walk hugs the coastline from Bondi to Coogee and is 6 kms in length. Walk all or part of it for amazing views and perhaps stop for a swim at one of the beaches along the way.

Altmann & Cherny Opal Store

Located on Pitt St. at Circular Quay, this family-owned and operated business offers an impressive range of opal jewelry.

Paddy’s Market

If you want to bring home inexpensive, kitschy souvenirs, this Chinatown market is the place. Kangaroo oven mitts and Opera House shot glasses abound.
Note: Paddy's Market is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Museum of Contemporary Art

Stroll the MCA and experience the work of today’s artists from across Australia and around the world on your own or take part in one of the free daily guided tours. Getting hungry? Stop at the MCA Cafe on Level 4 for spectacular harbor views, site-specific art and a fresh daily menu. On Wednesdays, make sure to check out their contemporary art after dark when the galleries, cafe, and store are all open until 9 pm.

Sydney Opera Bar

Found at the water’s edge of the Sydney Harbour and base of the famous Sydney Opera House, the Opera Bar promises an experience to remember. Toast to unforgettable views, new friends and new experiences in the afternoon sun.

Explore The Rocks

Get a sense of Sydney's past exploring The Rocks' cobbled laneways, cozy cafés and oldest pubs in the country. Major highlights within this area are: Sydney Observatory, Argyle Gallery, Cadman's Cottage, Sydney Theatre Company, Lord Nelson Brewery, and The Rocks Markets where Sydneysiders flock to on Fridays and over the weekend.

Island hopping on Sydney Harbour

Sydney Harbour Islands Fort Denison, Shark, Clark, Rodd, Goat, and Cockatoo are among some of Sydney's most popular natural attractions. Catch one of the regular ferry services from Circular Quay during summer and take in the sparkling scenery.

Thai Town

Thai Town, located in Haymarket on Campbell Street bordering Chinatown, is a neighborhood in Sydney with a Thai theme. While not as elaborate as Sydney's Chinatown, it has quickly become to best place to go in Sydney for great Thai Restaurants as well as Thai grocery stores.
