Prague Getaway 3 Nights (MX)

Originals...an original Picasso painting sold for $155 million in 2013. An original Jackson Pollack…$140 million in 2006. A Warhol? $100 million in 2008. Prague...no, it isn’t up for sale, but it is original and priceless! In fact, Prague is home to the world’s largest castle, spanning over 18 acres. Talk about original and priceless! And no one brings you Prague like Monograms. On this 4-day vacation, we've arranged your hotel reservations, daily breakfast, and sightseeing with a local expert. Plus, so that you’ll feel comfortable in the city, we've included the services of a Local Host®, someone who will be on hand to answer questions, offer suggestions, give you insights, and make sure your vacation runs smoothly.

Your vacation begins the moment you arrive in Prague, as we can pick you up at the airport and whisk you seamlessly from baggage claim to your selected hotel. Here, your Local Host will greet you with a warm welcome and a set of materials to help familiarize you with the city and to personalize your vacation. The next morning, after included breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your hotel for guided sightseeing with an expert local guide, someone who knows the city's fascinating history and will share inside stories with you. Your sightseeing features the Hradcany Castle courtyards. The castle, dating to the 9th century, is the largest castle complex in the world. We’ll also take you to Staromestske Square, surrounded by historic buildings and beautiful churches. Here, you'll see the Astronomical Clock, Prague’s most identifiable icon dating to 1410.

You’ll have a full day in Prague to explore on your own (with the support of your Local Host, of course). You may want to take a tour of Prague's Jewish Quarter, dating back to 1096 and with Europe’s best complex of Jewish historical monuments, or visit Terezín, a nearby fortress used as a concentration camp. Perhaps shop for souvenirs along Charles Bridge, dating from 1357 and one of the oldest stone bridges in Europe, or explore the castle complex. Maybe visit the Museum of Communism or just relax as you enjoy a Czech beer. Your Local Host will have suggestions and can help you arrange your activities.

Prague is a fascinating city, and Monograms wants you to enjoy it thoroughly. That's why we've arranged your hotel reservations, guides, daily breakfast, and sightseeing. Add the comfort of knowing you’ll have a Local Host throughout your stay to help you feel at home, and all you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Meet a Local Host® in Prague

My name is Richard, and I was born in Prague. I am keen on European medieval history and began my career working in the medieval section of Prague's metropolitan museum. Being a Local Host allows me to share my love of Prague’s beauty with Monograms’ guests, and I enjoy helping them get to know my city according to their individual interests.

World Heritage Site

The historic center of Prague, built between the 9th and 19th centuries, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Town, the Lesser Town and the New Town speak of the great architectural and cultural influence enjoyed by this city since the Middle Ages. See the many magnificent monuments, including Hradcany Castle, St Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge and numerous churches and palaces, built mostly in the 14th century during the reign of the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles IV. Ask your Local Host for more information.

Hussite Sites

The Hussites were a Christian movement following the teachings of Czech reformer Jan Hus (c. 1369–1415), who became one of the forerunners of the European Reformation. The massive Jan Hus Monument, completed in 1915 on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his death, dominates the Old Town square. Ask your Local Host about a walking route related to the 15th century Hussite wars.

Concerts in Prague

Enrich your trip to this historic city with a visit to one of its beautiful churches or cathedrals and enjoy a classical concert while there. Your Local Host will have more details.

Prague Museums

Lapidárium contains priceless original sculptures collected from their former locations throughout Prague - from the 11th-19th century - including original statues from the Charles Bridge. Artbanka Museum of Young Art (AMoYA) opened in June 2011and presents its vision to the public by offering a very bold program in the unique atmosphere of a Baroque palace where visitors can familiarize themselves with the world of contemporary Czech and international art. Prague Public Transport Museum (Muzeum mestské hromadné dopravy v Praze) houses a unique collection of exhibits illustrating the history of public transport in Prague, including over 40 historical vehicles and many other exhibits. Mucha Museum (Muchovo muzeum) is dedicated to the life and work of Alphonse Mucha, a Czech-French art nouveau painter. It has over 100 exhibits including paintings, photographs, charcoal drawings, pastels, lithographs and personal memorabilia. Ask your Local Host for more information about museums and galleries to suit your interests.

Strahov Monastery and Library

Before the Age of Enlightenment, monasteries carefully guarded their treasures. Now visitors are may stroll the halls and marvel at the contributions of history's greatest minds. Catch the breathtaking view of the city from the monastery garden.

Lucerna Gallery – Classic Souvenirs

Enjoy this classic art nouveau mall boasting wonderful shops, theaters, and cafés. Check out the sculpture Wenceslas Riding an Upside Down Horse. Classic Czech souvenirs include Bohemia crystal, Spa Wafers, porcelain with Blue Onion Pattern, Bohemian garnet, beads from Jablonec, classical music CDs, and Czech marionettes.

Cuisine

Local dishes to try include beef sirloin with cream sauce and dumplings, roast pork/duck/goose meat with red or white cabbage and dumplings, as well as Czech beer and the special Becherovka (herbal liquor) or Slivovice (plum brandy).
